Special Recognition

Two Board members who stepped down from the Board at the end of 2017 deserve special thanks and recognition—Colman Lydon and Sean Gaffey.  Their contributions to the NY Chapter of the IIBN and to the global network over the past several years are unparalleled.

Colman has been involved in the IIBN since the NY Chapter was formed in 2008, and served as Chair and President in 2011, 2012, and 2017.  Colman has been instrumental in establishing, in partnership with Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs, two of IIBN-NY’s most important and valuable programs—the Irish Executive Mentor Program (IEMP), and the Leadership & Executive Acceleration Program (LEAP).
Sean Gaffey, who also was involved in the Chapter in its early days, succeeded Colman and served as Chair and President in 2013 and 2014—during which the Chapter saw its membership, prestige, and visibility expand significantly.  In 2017, Sean organized and led the first IIBN-sponsored trade mission to Dublin, Belfast, and Derry-Londonderry, involving private sector delegates from the U.S. aimed at building relationships, trade, and investment in the U.S. and Ireland.
if you see them out and about, at an event or otherwise, buy them a pint.  Sláinte, Sean and Colman!
